Die Handlung dreht sich um Pierre, einen Professor für Quantenphysik, der ein kleines Hotel in Quebec erbt. Zusammen mit seiner Tochter verlässt er Paris um das Erbe anzutreten. Dort angekommen bemerken sie aber bald, daß der Bürgermeister der Gemeinde, in der das Hotel steht, ihnen das Leben schwer macht, weil er ebenfalls gerne Besitzer dieses Gebäudes wäre.
