Der Gymnasiallehrer Immanuel Rath wollte die Nachtbar "Der Blaue Engel" eigentlich nur besuchen, um sich ein Bild von dieser sündigen Lokalität zu machen und seine Schüler davor zu warnen. Als er aber die Sängerin Lola auf der Bühne sieht, verliebt er sich sofort in sie, was für seinen Beruf und sein Ansehen alles andere als gut ist.
